AndAction Performance Arts Projects was
formed as a non- profit making arts group in September 2004, partly in order
to provide access to the arts for young people in rural areas of Norfolk
and Suffolk but also to develop any good ideas in the community as well.
We have worked with young people in Attleborough, Bungay, Horstead, Dereham
and Hevingham offering some one- off events and other ongoing after-school
projects including film making, comedy improvisation and theatre-sports (reviewed
in a very positive light by the BBC).
For
the grown ups we've organised such energetic and off-the- wall entertainments as
the Big Bungay Cabarets and introduced the Pink Policeman, Sid Rasputin and Randolph
the Remarkable into various Street market festivals.
Our backgrounds
are as professional writers, actors, and musicians. We work in live and recorded
media and use a lot of improvisation techniques in the early stages to come
up with ‘the right stuff'.
A strong feature of our work in the field of creative development is the
emphasis on achieving spontaneity as the first step in provoking interesting
ideas. With young people and workshops this more often than not energises
the participants and produces a marked increase in their self-confidence
and communication skills - all good things to have happening in a
community.
